Deep Recovery for HurriCANe Displays

If a HurriCANe display cannot be programmed even via recovery mode,
a complete software renewal can be performed.

Explanation

These steps apply when even the Easy Installer is corrupted. This is the last resort to recover a display without sending it in for service.
The flash memory for a device’s main processor is organized as follows (hatched areas should be renewed):

Normally, the required program components are loaded and executed in the following order:

  1. After powering on, the bootloader (a very small starter program) is executed.
    If it finds a valid operating system (OS image; OS stands for Operating System), it will start it.
  2. When the operating system starts, the kernel is loaded, core system components are initialized, followed by services, drivers, and the user interface.
  3. The operating system launches the application programs, including EMBU-Chart.
  4. EMBU-Chart loads your layout file to begin the actual measurement task.

If an attempt to restore the OS image fails, the Easy Installer can be reprogrammed. For this, only the bootloader must still be intact. In such cases, startup is forced via the bootloader, which is capable of reprogramming the Easy Installer.
